शिक्षा मनुष्य के जीवन की सबसे मूल्यवान सम्पत्ति है। धन, सोना-चाँदी या भौतिक सुख-सुविधाएँ समय के साथ नष्ट हो सकती हैं, लेकिन शिक्षा एक ऐसी निधि है जो कभी घटती नहीं। यही कारण है कि हमारे पूर्वजों ने शिक्षा को जीवन का वास्तविक धन माना है।

शिक्षा का अर्थ केवल अक्षर-ज्ञान तक सीमित नहीं है। यह मनुष्य के व्यक्तित्व का सर्वांगीण विकास करती है। शिक्षा हमें अच्छे-बुरे का भेद सिखाती है, सही दिशा में सोचने की शक्ति देती है और समाज में सकारात्मक योगदान देने के लिए प्रेरित करती है। यदि किसी के पास धन है परन्तु शिक्षा नहीं, तो वह उस धन का सही उपयोग नहीं कर पाएगा। इसके विपरीत, शिक्षित व्यक्ति सीमित साधनों के बावजूद जीवन को सफल और सार्थक बना सकता है।

शिक्षा केवल व्यक्तिगत प्रगति तक सीमित नहीं रहती, बल्कि पूरे समाज के उत्थान का मार्ग प्रशस्त करती है। एक शिक्षित नागरिक न केवल अपने अधिकारों और कर्तव्यों को समझता है, बल्कि समाज में समानता, न्याय और भाईचारे की स्थापना करता है। यदि समाज के प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को शिक्षा प्राप्त हो जाए तो गरीबी, अज्ञानता और अपराध जैसी समस्याएँ स्वतः समाप्त हो सकती हैं।

आज के आधुनिक युग में शिक्षा का महत्व और भी बढ़ गया है। तकनीकी प्रगति, वैज्ञानिक शोध और वैश्विक प्रतिस्पर्धा में आगे बढ़ने के लिए शिक्षा ही सबसे बड़ी आवश्यकता है। यही कारण है कि हर देश शिक्षा को अपनी पहली प्राथमिकता बनाता है।

अतः हम कह सकते हैं कि वास्तविक सम्पत्ति न तो धन है, न भूमि और न ही आभूषण, बल्कि शिक्षा है। यह सम्पत्ति जितनी बाँटी जाती है उतनी ही बढ़ती है। शिक्षा से अर्जित ज्ञान और संस्कार ही मनुष्य को सच्चे अर्थों में समृद्ध बनाते हैं। इसलिए हमें सदैव याद रखना चाहिए— “शिक्षा ही सच्ची सम्पत्ति है।”
